sweater-two-the-overlook
Sweater TWO: The Overlook

The Overlook Sweater is an all-over colorwork all-gender sweater pattern. It’s knitted top-down with German short row shaping and raglan increases. This is an advanced knitting pattern. You are expected to understand sweater construction, follow a chart pattern, work increases, carry floats, and work stranded colorwork at the same time. The trickiest section is the German short rows. This pattern is charted.

The front/back of the sweater are modular charts. The pattern includes three different options. Wendy, the hallway with Danny and twins, and the hedge maze. All sleeves are modular.

This is a PDF download. It's about 70MB. Each set of charts works for three different sizes. This makes meeting gauge critical to garment fit. I have a very loose gauge, if you are a tense knitter you may find yourself sizing up your needles. This pattern is also highly modifiable to allow for you to tailor the sweater to yourself. The yoke length, body length, and sleeve length are all adjustable. Trying on the knit regularly will make the best version of The Overlook sweater.

The pattern is designed to have 2-4” / 5-10cm of positive ease.

Measurements:
Sizes 1-6
To Fit Chest:
29-33, 30-34, 31-35, 35-39, 36-40, 37-41 inches
74-84, 76-86, 79-89, 89-99, 92-102, 94-104 cm
Garment Chest:
33-35, 34-36, 35-37, 39-41, 40-42, 41-43 inches
84-89, 86-91, 89-94, 99-104, 102-107, 104-109 cm

Sizes 7-12
To Fit Chest:
41-45, 42-46, 43-47, 51-53, 52-54, 53-55 inches
102-114, 107-117, 109-119, 120-130, 122-132, 125-135 cm
Garment Chest:
45-47, 46-48, 47-49, 51-53, 52-54, 53-55 inches
114-119, 117-122, 119-124, 130-135, 132-137, 135-140 cm

Sizes 13-18
To Fit Chest:
53-57, 54-58, 55-59, 59-63, 60-64, 61-65 inches
135-145, 137-147, 140-150, 150-160, 153-163, 155-165 cm
Garment Chest:
57-59, 58-60, 59-61, 63-65, 64-66, 65-67 inches
145-150, 147-152, 150-155, 160-165, 163-167, 165-170 cm

Gauge A: Sizes 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16
-32 sts by 35 rows for 4" / 10 using US 1 (2.25mm) needles for colorwork
-US 00 (1.75mm) for ribbing

Gauge B: Sizes 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17
-31 sts by 31 rows for 4" / 10 using US 2 (2.75mm) needles for colorwork
-US 1 (2.25mm) for ribbing

Gauge C: Sizes 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18
-30 sts by 27 rows for 4" / 10 using US 3 (3.25mm) needles for colorwork
-US 2 (2.75mm) for ribbing

Yarn
Fingering weight yarn. 100% wool, a wool blend, or sock yarn work great!
1-3 (4-6) 7-9 (10-12) 13-15 (16-18)
MC:
150-250 (200-300) 350-450 (350-450) 400-500 (450-550) grams
900-1000 (950-1100) 1200-1400 (1350-1650) 1700-2100 (2100-2600) yrds
850-950 (1000-1200) 1050-1250 (1200-1500) 1400-1900 (1600-2100) m
CC:
150-200 (175-225) 200-300 (300-400) 350-450 (400-450) grams
800-900 (900-1000) 1100-1200 (1200-1300) 1400-1600 (1700-1900) yrds
700-800 (700-800) 850-950 (900-1150) 1200-1500 (1400-1700) m

Needles & Notions:
16” / 40cm and 32”/ 80cm circular needles in the sizes corresponding to your gauge.
